Throughout the year, the Friends run activities and programs especially for children as well as programs suitable for entire families. Please see below and our events page for our full listing of activities and programs.

Refuge Fledglings Hour — Nature-themed Program Series for Kids

Join Refuge staff for Refuge Fledglings Hour, a nature-themed program series that includes crafts, stories, and games or songs that relate to a different topic each month. Check the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge facebook page for up to date information.

Programs are usually held the 4th Friday of every month from 10:30am – 11:30 AM (note: this month is the 3rd Friday due to the holidays). For 2 to 5 year olds; siblings welcome. Held at the Visitor Center.

Wednesday, February 23, 10:00 - 11:00 AM

Bird Feeder Workshop for Kids

One of the most interesting wildlife types to view in the winter is the birds! We will learn the basics of bird-watching and how birds live in the winter time; and we will even be able to take home our own crafty bird feeders made from every-day materials! Suited for grades K-3, siblings welcome.

Please RSVP to kathryn_nathenson@fws.gov before Sunday Feb. 19th so we have enough supplies.

Intro to Bats for Kids at Wolbach Farm

Have you ever wondered what bats are up to during the springtime? Come join us for an afternoon of crafts and play to learn more about our winged relatives! In partnership with the Sudbury Valley Trustees we will be offering this event at the Wolbach Farm Barn (18 Wolbach Rd, Sudbury, MA 01776.)

This event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP to kathryn_nathenson@fws.go. Please Note: This location is not on the refuge.
